Daily News Egypt names senior staff to lead Egypt’s only independent English language newspaper into the future and continue the tradition of quality journalism established when the paper began publishing in 2005.

Chief editor Maher Hamoud was head of the economy section at Alborsa Newspaper. His long journalism experience combines print and TV news production. Hamoud feels ‘there has never been a greater need for an independent daily newspaper in the Egyptian media scene, reporting on the political and social changes that continue to reverberate around Egypt and the Middle East’.
Managing editor Rana Allam has extensive experience of print and online journalism. She says ‘I’m very excited at the prospect of being a part of the Daily News Egypt team and I look forward to the challenge of producing an excellent newspaper’.
Deputy managing editor Laurence Underhill brings experience from the UK newspaper industry along with his work as a photojournalist in the Arab world. He says ‘we will bring together the best of journalism and photography and work hard to continue and develop the Daily News Egypt as the standard for quality news publishing in Egypt and the region’
Business News for Press, Publishing and Distribution Company, owner of the daily financial newspaper Alborsa, obtained rights to the Daily News Egypt last month in order to reinvest in the paper and return it to the top level of English language news publishing in Egypt. Print and online readers will soon be able to enjoy breaking news and insightful analysis of events in Egypt and the wider region, brought to them by a team of journalists, editors, photographers and designers all committed to maintaining the high standards that Daily News Egypt is known for.
